This is a website to show off my collections of valve radios and vintage test equipment. I first started collecting valve radios in 1966 when I was about 16. I went to all the local rummage sales and bought any old radios and TVs I found (carrying them home was a bit of a trial). I had a wall of radios in my bedroom and very understanding parents. I was always interested in electronics I used to construct things in my bedroom. When I left school I went on to do a Marconi apprenticeship, and worked for a while in Marconi Radar. I subsequently joined Infrared Engineering where I started to move into software. Somewhere along the way I lost my wall of radios (I wish I still had them). I have now worked for a company called Pillarhouse International for 27 years first as an electronic engineer but now exclusively writing software for machine control.
A few years ago I discovered eBay and found lots of old radios for sale and I had to start collecting again (the voices made me do it).
These days I am also fairly handy at wood work so I enjoy restoring the cabinets as well as the electronics.
I also collect brass voltmeters and ammeters and vintage test equipment and other cool stuff (as the voices demand).
